Portsmouth City Community Shower
No matter who you are or where you’re from—if you live, work, or play in the City of Portsmouth, please join us on Saturday, May thirty-first for the Community Shower at Fountain Park, six hundred Broad Street.
This is a day for all of us to come together. Families, neighbors, churches, nonprofits, businesses, and city workers—everyone is welcome.
We’re asking you to represent what matters to you. Set up a table in memory of a loved one. Bring awareness to causes that hit home—whether it’s cancer, suicide prevention, diabetes, mental health, or drug abuse. Families can come just like nonprofits. You don’t need a business name to make an impact. Just bring your heart and a reason to show up.
We’re collecting what people truly need—gently used baby items, shoes, pet supplies, clothing, canned goods, household items, and medical supplies. Even your time can change someone’s day. Come tell the community what you do, what you’ve been through, or what you care about most.
We’re also calling for volunteers. We need help with setup, cleanup, security, donation tables, and making sure everything runs smoothly from beginning to end. If you’ve got a heart to serve, we need you.
There will be no selling, no vending, and no hot food on site. This is not a marketplace. Everything being given is free to the public. First come, first serve. No pressure, no cost—just love, support, and community. It will be a peaceful, welcoming space for everyone.
We’re calling on firefighters, police officers, the sheriff’s department, mental health professionals, the health department, city officials, nonprofits, fitness groups—everyone. If you serve Portsmouth or care about this city, this is your call to action.
Just show up on May thirty-first. Set-up begins at eight a.m. The event runs from ten to two. You must stay with your items—no drop-offs allowed. If you have items left, we’ll have info on nearby thrift stores that may accept them.
If you’d like more information or want to volunteer, contact Ellen Tomiye at 757-582-5290 or email excellencerestored1@gmail.com.
Let’s come together for the city we love—and make this day count.
