I'm Ellen Tomiye, owner of Ellen’s Homestyle and BBQ and founder of Excellence Restored, a reentry resource nonprofit. I'm inviting you to help host a Community Shower on Saturday, May 31st in Portsmouth. This event is about us—all of us—**regardless of race or background, young and old—**coming together to support one another. Whether you bring donations like baby or adult items, want to be an affiliate, share your services and hand out information, or help with setup and outreach—there’s a place for you. Whatever you do, you can be a part of this. Fit in where you fit best. Let’s show what real community looks like. We’re not just asking folks to attend—we’re asking them to help host and represent what unity really means. We need people and organizations who can truly show up and represent: Community service organizations Mental health and behavioral support services Criminal justice and reentry advocates Drug awareness and addiction recovery programs Job opportunity listings and hiring connections Juvenile justice programs and youth advocates Veteran services Senior and aging support Disability and accessibility resources Autism support networks Tutoring and mentoring programs Higher education, adult learning, and college readiness programs Workforce development and career training services Nonprofits and for-profit businesses Social Services reps Anyone offering guidance, outreach, or access to services This is a work-free day. No paperwork, no processing. Just come out feeling your best, hand out materials, talk to folks, and be part of something real. And yes—everyone will have a chance to take the mic and say who they are and what they offer. This entire community event is FREE. Nothing will be sold. It’s about giving, connecting, and showing up for each other. Whether it’s donations, services, or just your presence—you’ve got something to bring. Let’s do this together. Location to be announced
Transitional housing that changes the game!!!
EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO TRANSITION MIND BODY & STABILITY
We are currently scouting locations for our transitional housing program where we will not only be offering a bed—we will be building a foundation, led by people who’ve walked this path before. This transitional housing is for those ready to heal, grow, and move forward—with guidance from folks who get it. You’ll get real support for your mental health, your physical well-being, your finances, and your goals. We believe in structure, accountability, and second chances—because we’ve been there too. This is where stability starts, and self-sufficiency becomes real.

Empowering Community, Inspiring Change — From the Inside Out
I'm Ellen Tomiye, and I founded Excellence Restored because I lived it. I know what it’s like to come home and not see enough support. I know what it feels like to walk out of jail with hope in your heart, but no real guidance in your hand. And even now, with all the programs and resources out here, there’s still a gap between what’s available—and what people on the inside actually receive.
That’s why I became the middle woman and the inside woman.
I gather resources from the outside and take them straight into the jails.
At Portsmouth City Jail, I led a full 8-week reentry program for incarcerated men, built on real life—not just paperwork. We focused on:
— Family reunification and parenting
— Child support without shame
— Communication and emotional healing
— Employment readiness and workforce development
— Housing support and life planning
— Mental health awareness and self-worth
This work means everything to me because I know what’s missing. And I know how to fill the gap—by showing up.
